Help for Heroes

"It's about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It's about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it's about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It's about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It's about Ben, it's about Steven and Andy and Mark, it's about them all. They are just blokes, but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

Since it's inception H4H has supported a plethora of ventures and charities. One such charity is Toe in the Water to whom the majority of funds we raise will be allocated.

The tri-service initiative TOE IN THE WATER (TITW) aims to inspire the men and women who have sustained often traumatic injuries, including the loss of limbs, to move beyond their disability and to become re-inspired by life. Competitive sailing is a physically and mentally challenging adventurous sport and provides a unique opportunity for injured men and women to sail and race on equal terms with their able-bodied contemporaries.
The participants are selected by the clinicians at Headley Court based on specific clinical needs and are given tangible rehab goals which are monitored prior to, during and post each event. The overarching aim of the project is to provide competitive world class racing to injured servicemen and women as an extension of their rehabilitation at the DMRC Headley Court and thereby:
  • Challenging injured servicemen and women both physically and mentally
  • taking them beyond their own and others expectations.
  • Re-inspiring injured servicemen and assist them in being able to see beyond their injuries.
  • Providing a vehicle to assist injured servicemen in finding a meaningful working and living environment following profound injury.

The Army Benevolent Fund

The Soldiers Charity

The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) was founded following World War II under the patronage of His Majesty King George VI. Its chief aim was to provide charitable support to the thousands of Soldiers and their families left affected by war. To this day, they have remained The Soldier's Charity. They are there for the WHOLE army family when they need support. For Life. Their support is unique in extending to soldiers, former soldiers, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands, children...

Due to the intensity of current conflict, the ABF is needed now more than ever.
What do they do? They help in simple ways, which make a massive difference.
- An electric wheelchair or walk in shower for an injured soldier
- Care home fees for a Second World War veteran
- A respite break for an army family struggling with the loss or injury of a loved one - Furniture of a soldier just trying to get back on their feet after being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
They also give money to over 80 other service charities
